Tree Survey
Activities as a tree surveyor
This overview shows the most important activities as a tree surveyor. On the following pages you can find information about the used software for the tree registry, several pictures of tools used by the tree surveyor for tree surveys and also images of climbing operations.
- Register of trees: map-like capturing of the locations of trees on field map extracts (also digital and GIS-enabled versions, example: Tree registry Ehrwald) and also capturing of full tree data, which is printed on an own cadastre sheet each tree; besides feasibility of creation of tree lists e.g. for tender of specific measures.
- Tree control according to VTA with various inspection levels e.g. for investigation of stability against collapse and safety against rupture of trees by the tree surveyor:
Inspection level I: Visual control;
Inspection level II: measurements with the Resistograph E 400 resp. E 500 and impulse tomography employing the arbotom;
Inspection level III: Measurements of standardized drill cores with the Fractometer I resp. II.
- Inspection of wood constructions like pylons, may poles, wooden playground constructions (example 1 and example 2) or wood constructions in buildings (example 1 and example 2).
- Valuation of wood by the method of Koch, e.g. after accidental damages, in hereditary matters or further issues. (The following illustrated examples open in new windows.)
Example 1: Tree survey of a damage with remaining depreciation at the property;
Example 2: Damage without remaining depreciation at the property;
Example 3 and 4: Total loss 1 and total loss 2.
- Statics calculation, example: Wall damage 1, wall damage 2.
- Forest expertises, e.g. forest value calculation, assessment of damage caused by deer rub, by stems' bark being browsed by deer or by repeated bud browsing.
- Special missions: Examination of date trees in the United Arab Emirates. Examples: Stem damage at a date tree, Arbotom measurement setup at palm, arbotom measurement sheet, resistogram 1, resistogram 2.
- Seminars about VTA basics with local educations by the tree surveyor (dates and details please find in the seminar offer); Foreset guidances; additional educations e.g. about forces in the tree or diagnosis devices.
